Attorney / Alan Woolever

BACKGROUND

Alan Woolever is a shareholder tax attorney of the firm in the Kansas City office serving as tax counsel representing clients in a wide variety of public finance transactions and advising financial institutions on tax matters related to municipal leasing and direct lending transactions. Mr. Woolever’s practice includes advising State and local governments, non-profit organizations, and bond counsel on capital and working capital financings, including, healthcare facilities, mental health and social services facilities, continuing care retirement community facilities, K-12 and higher education facilities, athletic facilities, museums, performing arts facilities, broadband projects, water, wastewater and stormwater facilities, state revolving funds, solid waste disposal facilities, airports, ports, clean and renewable energy projects, energy efficiency projects, small issue manufacturing facilities, first-time farmer loans, volunteer fire department loans, information technology projects, general governmental purpose and economic development projects. In addition, his practice includes advising on post-issuance compliance responsibilities and IRS examinations related to public finance transactions.

Mr. Woolever is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Governmental Leasing and Finance and is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He is a frequent speaker on tax matters related to public finance transactions, including, clean and renewable energy projects and direct pay federal tax credits and prepares the Federal Tax Treatise related to municipal leasing and direct lending transactions for the Association for Governmental Leasing and Finance. Prior to law school, Mr. Woolever was a municipal bond trader focusing on secondary market transactions for Edward Jones.
