New GilmoreBell Shareholders

GilmoreBell welcomes William L. Hess and Benjamin C. Thompson to the firm’s Kansas City office as shareholders. Both were previously with the Kansas City office of Bryan Cave LLP.

William L. Hess is a shareholder of the firm in the Kansas City office. Mr. Hess has focused his practice on public finance, representing issuers, underwriters, trustees, hospitals in virtually all types of issues, including general obligation bonds, tax anticipation notes, special revenue obligations and conduit revenue and lease financings of various types over the past 35 plus years. Notable engagements include City of Kansas City issues financing the Bartle Convention Center, the Kansas City Zoo and the City Market and many pooled and individual financings for Missouri school districts. Mr. Hess has served as bond counsel to the Kansas Development Finance Authority for various State of Kansas state agency financings to include the State Capitol Building restoration, the State Fairgrounds renovation and various state correctional facilities and mental hospitals among others. He has also served as counsel to the Missouri Securities Investment Program (MOSIP). Mr. Hess received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Kansas in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Kansas in 1973. Mr. Hess has been a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers since its inception and is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and American Bar Association.

Benjamin C. Thompson is a shareholder of the firm in the Kansas City Office. Mr. Thompson routinely serves as bond counsel and issuer’s counsel for school district and governmental clients in Missouri and Kansas. Mr. Thompson earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration and B.A. degree in Spanish from the University of Kansas in 2004, and his J.D. (cum laude) from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2008. Mr. Thompson is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association and National Association of Bond Lawyers.
